When a Gun Saves a Life
By Michael Goodspeed
"News" media in this country are owned and
operated by master manipulators. Every "story" is reported
with an intended effect, and most often, the intention is to
cultivate fear and confusion in the common man. For one of the best
examples of this, consider media coverage of the highly emotional
"gun control" issue. Remember the aftermath of Columbine?
The images of blood-soaked children climbing through jagged, broken
windows were broadcast ad nauseam, and the message behind the
pictures was clear: "Look at what GUNS can do! Guns go bang,
people get hurt! Guns are bad!" American "news" media
"reported" on Columbine without any kind of factual
context. Rather, they simply focused their lenses on the visceral
horror, attempting to create in the public a deep loathing and
terror of guns.
The facts tells us that "gun control" is not a
successful tool for decreasing gun violence. Furthermore, when
states have allowed law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons,
incidences of gun violence have gone down. This was the crux of
Professor John Lott's book, More Guns, Less Crime. Lott examined
crime statistics in the U.S. between 1977 and 1992, and concluded
that states that adopted concealed carry laws actually experienced
REDUCTIONS in violent crimes. (See www.johnrlott.com)
Lott's discovery should not come as a surprise to any
thinking person. When law-abiding folks obtain firearms, they remain
law-abiding. The only people who benefit from gun control are
CRIMINALS, who would love to see John Q. Public disarmed and
impotent.
Consider a very recent, real-life example of this. On the
evening of Thursday, August 25, at a Wal-Mart in Albuquerque, NM, a
man attacked a woman in the deli, jumping the counter and stabbing
her repeatedly. She probably would have been killed, if not for the
heroic actions of a good Samaritan who just happened to be
"packing heat." Here is the story from the Fox affiliate
in Albuquerque:
"A violent moment inside an Albuquerque Wal-Mart,
where at least one person was fatally shot, another stabbed in the
back. It happened around five Thursday night at the Wal-Mart at San
Mateo and Zuni Southeast. Witnesses say a man jumped the counter and
stabbed a woman working at the deli multiple times. That's when
witnesses say another man pulled out a gun and shot the stabber
three times. We talked to one group who says they hit the floor and
then crawled to the store's coolers to hide out. The SWAT team was
deployed to clear the store. Police say the woman was taken to UNM
with multiple stab wounds; they say her injuries are not
life-threatening. A relative of the victim's coworker says the woman
had just taken out a temporary restraining order on the man."

This story is ironic on multiple levels. First, the
"bad guy" is a knife-wielding maniac who receives his
comeuppance from a gun-toting "good guy". Second, the
female victim had taken out a restraining order on her male attacker
-- and just as 2nd amendment proponents have long insisted, such
legal measures generally do protect anyone from violence. Third, if
anti-gun fanatics like Rosie O' Donnell and Chuck Schumer had their
way, all law-abiding citizens would be disarmed, and the victim in
this case would almost certainly be dead.
The same "news" media that reveled in the
bloodshed at Columbine will surely bury this story which so badly
discredits their backwards and perverse anti-gun agenda.
