THE PEOPLE ARE KEPT IGNORANT It
is the ‘end of the world’ for places like Detroit, the
dispossessed of Katrina, and multitudes of rusting towns – sometimes
the ‘end’ doesn’t come as expected or announced. Detroit
(or the numerous echoing towns) is NEVER on the news! Ruddi:
The thing here, is that Americans are really not aware (maybe
intuitively) of just how severe the work situation (lack of) is. They
do locally, but aren’t aware of the national crisis. Daily the
news/think tank shills, blubber all over the media how GREAT the
economic picture is, a chicken in every pot, jobs a plenty etc. The
war mongers – oil hucksters – contractors are cleaning up. Treaties
have decimated manufacturing, farming, textile, paper, and high tech
jobs. My
youngest son spent two years documenting (for school) on large format
(8x10) these relics of the industrial age, before they were all
destroyed. Many times we went with him on these photos – shoots, as
the hauling of equipment to these sites was a physical trial. It was
sickening to witness the surrounding towns of these massive mills -
that once held vibrant communities, all boarded up, and decaying. The
work a day people are far removed from making decisions – and thus
have become the refuse of corporate greed, in its quest for PROFITS
– seeking a workforce in the global market place – that they can
indenture into servitude, at slave wages/no worker
safety/environmental regulations etc. It’s
not like multitudes of citizens didn’t come out and demonstrate,
i.e. labor, environmentalists, students, workers, seniors etc, to
bring attention to the emptying of When
quotas were set on the importation of autos, countries simply located
their plants here. I have seen no news on the work situation in the
Gulf (Katrina damage) where local people, put out of work are
fired – or not hired, due to recruiters for these various
contractors (Halliburton – Brown and Root) bringing in
multitudes of immigrants from South America on ‘work’ visas. Instead
we have Wal-mart – Home Depot – casinos (the first buildings
rebuilt in the Gulf) – and prisons and WAR as our newest industries.
Right now the focus and blame (per managed media) is being kept on
‘illegal immigrants’ as being the fault of all this unrest, lack
of employment etc. Since states/local governments; know zero about
these various treaties and the detrimental effects they will (are)
have in their towns – the people are kept in the dark, and mostly
fearful. JM
