Stimulus Package? This is nothing more than a crude act of desperation to cover the act of deliberate incompetence (thank you Alan Greenspan) created by the FED (speculators - politicians ). Let's watch the GOP hold this paltry amount hostage to a permanent take break for the top few per cent? The amount to be given? Probably somewhere between $500 and a $1000? When? Reports say sometime in June or July? What will this token sum do to stimulate the economy ( massive layoffs - foreclosures - rising cost of fuel, food, etc)? Absolutely NOTHING!
Here we are TRILLIONS of dollars in debt. The interest on this is approx $300 BILLION per year and rising! So they're (Foggy Bottom Buffoons) slapping together this approx $100-$145 billion bailout to supposedly forestall a collapse in consumer spending/kick start the economy! This is comparable to a gang of home invaders ripping off everything that wasn't nailed down. Caught red handed they return a few weeks later and want you to be thankful that they're returning your plunger and toilet brush! How exciting Christmas in July - what to buy? TV was my teacher far into the night - it taught me to buy everything within sight.
The New Orleans levee is comparable to Clinton (Republican friends) Modernization Financial Bill (1999) which repealed the Banking Bill of 1933, that prevented the hogs of banking having access to the trough!
There's nothing generous about this stimulus joke. This surreal scene, is like a day in the intensive care unit, watching a dying man being given (stimulus) electro shock. He awakes only long enough to glimpse the priest sprinkling holy water, and the family discussing funeral arrangements. It's Katrina, visited on the people, via the financial markets. Like New Orleans; corruption, greed, and depraved indifference, on the part of those elected/appointed to office, to set walls of protection and accountability in place: Instead had them all wallowing in the trough of subcrime mortgages, pension funds, mergers, loans, hedge funds etc, stuffing themselves to the point of delirium.
Now that their ship of fools has sprung a leak, they're placating those (us) in steerage, with gift certificates to Wal-Marts, while they don their life vests and head off to Dubai or Patagonia? Not ONE of the 'major' contenders, for the presidential brass ring, are speaking the truth to the people! Those who've attempted to, have been silenced, and given no media attention! Who's fooling who? They're trying to lurch towards the election before the boat capsizes.
