Quotes and the man George W. Bush

By Bill Richer

The following four quotes and one story by George W. Bush
on the dates shown were seen by many at the time as being satirical.  Today we see the United States of America 6 years after the reign of George W Bush and must reflect on his quotes.

1)"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so
long as I'm the dictator." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000

2)"The legislature's job is to write law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law." --George W. Bush, Austin, Texas, Nov. 22, 2000

3)"America better beware of a
candidate who is willing to stretch reality in order to win points." --George W. Bush, aboard his campaign plane, Sept. 18, 2000

4)"I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." —George W. Bush, as quoted in Bob Woodward's "Bush at War" 1

5)“By Cooper's count, George W. Bush issued 23 signing statements in 2001; 34 statements in 2002, raising 168 constitutional objections; 27 statements in 2003, raising 142
constitutional challenges, and 23 statements in 2004, raising 175 constitutional criticisms. In total, during his first term Bush raised a remarkable 505 constitutional challenges to various provisions of legislation that became law.

That number may be approaching 600 challenges by now. Yet Bush has not vetoed a single bill, notwithstanding all these claims, in his own signing statements, that they are unconstitutional insofar as they relate to him.

Bush has quietly been using these statements to bolster presidential powers. It is a calculated, systematic scheme that has gone largely unnoticed (even though these statements are published in the Weekly Compilation of Presidential
Documents) until recently….” 2

In the first quote he seems to joke about being a dictator but what has he become after six years?  Yes, a dictator!  The Congress has relinquished its power to legislate and seems to have given full power to the executive branch.  Mr. Gonzales, the Attorney General and the Congress seem ready to do everything to give President Bush whatever he wants.  Even the Supreme Court who are supposed to be judging whether laws are constitutional or not seemed to have voted
unconstitutionally on a recent vote about property rights.

Another example of President Bush’s dictatorship is a signing a North American Union Agreement without conferring with American people or the Congress.  This agreement is main reason why President Bush has failed in his duty to protect Americans from foreign invaders!  It is also the reason why Americans are suffering tremendously from unemployment, lack of hospitals, low pay, high cost of medical insurance and lack of medical insurance.

We see other examples of one man rule with these signing statements and his spying on Americans on internet and wiretapping.  All these items go against our Constitution and Bill of Rights.  He also just about held a fire under the Congress to reinstate the unconstitutional Patriot act!  Every day with the Bush Administration Cabal brings new wonders!

You can also see that Bush said that stretching reality was not right!  Yet how often have
we heard lie after lie from him and his administration!  Weapons of Mass Destruction being a big lie to get us in Iraq!   There are also lies on 911 and the American people have never had such a secretive and reckless president in all of United States history!  Remember he said he was the commander and he didn’t have to explain himself!  This is just pure arrogance and ignorance of the Constitution!

So what does George W. Bush say about our Constitution?  Read the
following:

6) GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the Patriot act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one
aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

To him it’s just a Goddamn piece of paper.  The founding fathers wrote up this piece of paper very carefully so that freedom and justice would reign in this country!  The ignorance and
arrogance of George W. Bush towards our Constitution shows he doesn’t care about our way of life.  He has done everything in his reign for the Banks and Corporations and nothing for the American people.  He also shows a disdain for all those who have fought for this country in current and past wars and also a disdain for our Founding Fathers who were Christian.  Bush hasn’t the foggiest of what a Christian is and if he continues on this road to destruction it will not be the Constitution that will be damned but him and his cabal.

Have become domestic enemies

It doesn't take a Judge or a lawyer to know the difference!

"All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void." Marbury vs. Madison

"I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR (OR AFFIRM) THAT I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC; THAT I WILL BEAR TRUE FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO THE SAME; AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE (CONSTITUTIONAL AND LAWFUL) ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE (CONSTITUTIONAL AND LAWFUL) ORDERS OF THE OFFICERS APPOINTED OVER ME, ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS AND THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE. SO HELP ME GOD."

Teddy's Answer to Diversity!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.
— Theodore Roosevelt, speech before the Knights of Columbus, 1915, New
York

Teddy's Answer to Bush!

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable
to the American public.
— Theodore Roosevelt

Teddy's Answer to Bush & Congress

"We cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure.  Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public.  Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity."  — Theodore Roosevelt
