Note: Some super rich people (who spend $800.00 on a bottle of wine) whom you'll never meet, are in Davos Switzerland this week - They're the owners of the world . They've already made up their minds, that the USS Titanic is going under. Oh, and you were thought too stupid to have this on the news. You get the guy from the movie Broke Back Mountain (? never saw it I don't do movies) - that's what the 'elite' think of your intellect. That's why they refer to you (in their meetings) as 'units - human resources - acceptable risks - cattle - sheep etc'.
While there is the usual haggling going on, over how many crumbs to throw to the masses ( $500 - $1000?), those responsible for the grand heist (super rich of the world) are meeting in Davos Switzerland (World Economic Summit). For 6 days chauffeur driven limousines (armor plated) whizzed between Zürich airport and the alpine resort ( Davos) bringing the super rich and powerful together to talk about transforming the world. Tucked high in the Alps there's no problem keeping the riff - raff from demonstrating. They don't get within miles of this elegant resort.
Far away - in an Alpine Valley (above) a couple thousand of corporate - financial - and world leaders, are deciding how the rest of the world will be run for the next year (who they'll rob next). NO - it's none of our business ( 6 billion others in the world).
Billionaires and millionaires and those who control the destinies of hundreds of millions of poeple will meet for the next several days amidst the spectacular scenery of the Alps. It's not all work (discussing poverty - food - water scarcity etc). There's skiing, (spouses are invited) black tie dinners (dances) and tables groaning under the mountains of food.
All of our mills, factories, etc, allowed to rust away.
In a company town - everything closes when the politicians vote for these trade agreements that ship auto - steel - paper - mfg to Korea, Mexico, China, India, etc. They don't care because they have cradle to grave jobs (if they play the game right) with full medical, exotic vacations, travel expenses, spouses/ children hired as lobbyists etc.This year the CEO's - heads of state - bankers - Arab Sheiks - Russian billionaires - Chinese etc - (a couple thousands in all) will discuss the US relinquishing its role as the global economic driver.
I guess the money boys in Davos are reporting that they're off to greener pastures with America going belly up. Our factories are all rusted, our towns are boarded up, and Possum Joe is selling nuts to keep himself in food. Our senior (oxygen and all) are working at Wal-Marts and Home Depot, where they'll die. You can't retire (unless wealthy) in this country. It's work till you drop or freeze to death in some tent or abandoned car. Two people (Jan 8) were found frozen to death in New Orleans. Who cares they weren't some movie star (that nobody knows) in Soho overdosing on sleeping pills. Now that's 'Breaking News'.
These Goliaths of Globalization are the real movers and shakers of the global economy. Washington - Wall Street are merely their minions (well paid - but still minions). They decide who will be the the next President - dictator etc. Their concerns this year is the credit turmoil threatening to trigger a U.S. recession (depression).
There's rich, super rich, and obscenely rich. Many of us who live near the ocean have seen ordinary yachts and been impressed (above). The obscenely wealthy 's yachts make the rich people's yachts look like mere toys. It's a given that those making billions and trillions are crooks.
The hot ticket last year at Davos was the 'dialog in the dark' event, when delegates of the World Economic Forum were 'plunged' into complete darkness to 'experience' the loss of sight. An apt metaphor for the their blindness! There will be a number of senior bankers in attendance from JPMorgan to Goldman Sachs - as well as Wall Street's chief executives. Timothy Geither of the NY Federal Reserve and Christopher Cox of the Securities Exchange Commission will be in attendance. Gates will be there as will a number of European policy makers (European Central Bank, finance ministers etc). Asia's exporters and those with sovereign wealth (oil rich Gulf) as well as China Investment Corporations and Dubai International Capital will be in attendance. Sovereign wealth funds will be another major topic. For the first time Davos is staging a series (while gorging themselves) about food supplies.
Despite the theatric of what's being presented as the 'democratic process' in the people choosing a candidate nothing could be further from the truth. It does act as a great distraction and eats up months of air time so that the real issues will never get discussed. For example Hillary was chosen when she spoke at the 1998 Davor Summit. I listened to this on 'foreign news'. She was slobbered over with remarks such as, "Hat's off to her, she's the best Ambassador the U.S. has". The French (figures) Ambassador said, "The charges against her husband are ridiculous". I thought to myself ('98) there's the next President. Sure enough in /99 she announced she'd run for the Senate(after doing the usual carpetbagger location to New York State).
Bill Gates is in Davos - this is his little spread. Bill is insistent that American Information Technology personnel be replaced with CHEAP guest workers from Russia and India.
The Waltons of Wal-Mart slave labor fame have numerous homes in Arkansas. This is Helen Walton's (worth $15.3 billion) home (one of them).

Presidential place in Dubai - think of this when you fill up your gas tank.
Many of the wealthy from Europe and the U.S. (including many corporations as this is the new financial center) have relocated to Dubai. They have built a thousand islands with beautiful villas and housing (condos etc) . Dubai is tax free which might explain why Cheney's Haliburton recently took off for there. This reminds me of those who took off in the Titanic lifeboats - leaving those in steerage to drown.
Europeans 'expatriates' open a new school for the numerous American/European children now living in the Arab Emirates.
OIL money has built a huge indoor ski slope for the rich in Dubai. Remember how American troops went to SAVE Kuwait from evil Saddam? While our kids went to war - the prince's of these Oil Sheiks went to the French Rivera! True!The wealth of the world's super rich were worth approximately $37.2 trillion last year. They gave less than 1% of their net worth to charity. The U.S. has the most wealth. Bush's tax cuts (which they want to make permanent) shifted the tax burden from the nation's rich to the middle class (fast disappearing). American's wealthy elites are among the wealthiest humans in history. They enjoy obscene luxury. Mansions /yachts/customized private jets (no airline searches for them) vacation islands, etc.
War and the price oil has been very profitable for the few. That's the price you pay when you are slave to the borrower (US to Arab countries/China). They can raise the price of a barrel of oil to any amount they please.
Dubai has built the city of the future (no taxes here). No decaying schools, sewers, or inferior bridges here.
Hell their dogs are better cared for than any ordinary working man. Trust funds are left for their care.
Private sauna each room. Meanwhile our thousands of veterans who are homeless are washing up in rivers/streams!What does it take to anger Americans (the world's working poor)? I don't know - but these several thousands deciding the world's business (lives of poverty) for billions is insane. Especially since these trillions were certainly not earned honestly but by robbing the resources and monies of the earth's working people - native people - and those in the Third World .
While Washington moans about throwing a few crumbs to the needy here in America - the BILLIONAIRES - CEO's - Bankers - world leaders are eating good for the next several days. They are staying in the numerous exotic hotels in Davos - no tents for these people. Many of our Wall Street crowd are there - and D.C. politicians. They're going to (please) discuss poverty! I imagine this will entail how to rob the multitudes of the last drop of blood?
While our infrastructure is imploding and falling into ruin - YOUR Gas/Home Heating oil is building a futuristic city in the Arab Emirates.
You have to ask yourself - how much is enough? Nobody begrudges (if it's made honestly) a man having a decent home, transportation etc. There comes a time when the excess of it all is beyond rational explanations.
What help would $500 or a $1000 be those who've lost their jobs, homes, are dying for want of medical care etc? NOTHING.Seattle Washington is home (imagine) to people living in Tent Cities. This in the land that spend 2.5 billion a week on war! This in the land that recently increased aid to Israel (size of NH) by $30 billion. In Maine thousands of Somalians have been relocated (medical, housing, job assistance). These men out of work are living in hobo town! Gosh none of this makes the news (hundreds of thousands across the land living in TENTS!) You didn't see any presidential debates held in the 'other' America now did you?
Thousands are homeless (Oprah bought up an entire island) in Hawaii. These folks work but can't afford rents that went from $200.00 to $1000 a month. Their wages didn't. Not like the politicians in Washington who gave themselves a $5000 raise last week.
Dell lives in this tent (one of thousands) in Florida. He made $20.00 an hour as a welder in the NE till the factory got shipped to China. He went to Florida seeking work. This is a (all the South is) a 'right to work (for less) state. He was offered $8.00 an hr. Dell says you can't feed a cat on that.
From Detroit, to Ohio - Colorado - NH - California - Nevada etc, millions are losing their homes due to the contemptible corruption of the financial predators in this country.
We have no energy, no housing policy, etc - in this country for all the BILLIONS we spend on war. The poor, those evicted, the mentally ill, are treated much like discarded litter in our disposable society.
Many across America live in trailers. They live in areas where the rich have made land (homes) too expensive for the natives. They are 'guest workers' imported from foreign lands to clean toilets, wait on tables, make snow, etc at the various resorts.
D. Sinns who once worked for the city (Minnesota) walked away from his job in one day and said, "I will no longer create a tax income because I will not pay for prisons and bombs". D Sinns is an artist and has built places to live along America's rivers where he lives and invites others. Usually the police - ordered by the powers that be tear these places down - the people, it appears, are just supposed to disappear?
In the Great Depression thousands lined up for a job/handout. In Atlanta Georgia a few weeks ago, 10,000 + (didn't see this making the top of the news) lined up in Atlanta Georgia for a job at Wal-Mart. Is that disgusting or what?
