Iran:
We Bear Scars From Power-Mad US

Iran
says it developed missiles only to 'defend' against further attacks
similar to that of the 8-year US-sponsored war on the country.
"Iran has developed its missile capabilities to defend
itself," said Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar. "Our
missiles are only a threat to invaders."
He was referring to White House reasoning that it needs to site
interceptor missiles in Poland and an anti-missile radar system in the
neighboring Czech Republic to ward off ballistic missile attacks by
'rogue states such as Iran'.
"Building a missile defense shield can only be justified in the
context of protecting the world from the US and Israel as they are the
ones who threaten the world with nuclear strikes and missile wars,"
the Brigadier General said Monday.
The Iranian official then reasoned that Washington is not worthy of
trust because of its long history of advancing its interests at the
expense of others with its 'satanic policies of world domination'.
"To justify its illegal presence in the Middle East and to gain
unquestionable influence on Europe, America engineers crises and
manipulates public opinion through psywar and propaganda," he
explained.
Giving several examples of such policies, Mohammad-Najjar suggested that
the international community work together to achieve 'sustainable peace
and stability through understanding and wholehearted cooperation'.
"The Iraqi invasion and the humanitarian crisis in the war-battered
country, the Lebanese crisis and the Israeli atrocities against the
Palestinians are all sanctified by Washington echelons in line with
their desire for political domination of the world."
"Such wrongdoings should wizen regional and European states, so
they avoid the trap of Washington's satanic policies," advised the
defense minister.
He said as Tehran 'bases its defense diplomacy as well as its foreign
policy on avoiding such traps', Washington feels the need to oppose
Iran.
He pointed to the 8-year Iraq-Iran War, in which Washington is widely
believed to have provided the Ba'athist regime with weapons of mass
destruction as well as vital intelligence in the hope of toppling the
Iranian government.
"We need to defend against national security threats and our
missile program was launched in this regard," he said.
