2) In September we announced Merck had halted development and clinical trials of its new HIV/AIDS vaccine which uses aborted fetal cell line PER C6 AD5. (See www.cogforlife.org/hivvax.htm  ) Many of you will also remember when we first reported about this new aborted fetal cell line in June 2001 which was derived from the retinal tissue of an 18 week gestation baby.  The cell line has been modified with an Adenovirus vector (AD 5) - a strain of the common cold virus to induce immune response and is being used in s everal new vaccines under development.  Now Merck is revealing that not only has the vaccine failed due to the AD 5 but it may have increased the risk of HIV in patients undergoing clinical trials.  More shocking - Merck will decide whether or not to tell participants whether or not they received the vaccine or a placebo.  Worse news to ponder, this same cell line is being used in many other new vaccines under development. Read the story:
