Welcome to Call to Decision

===  2.  Article 8 major organizing effort to kick off in September!  ===

We believe that this will be a defining period in Massachusetts history.  The homosexual lobby is reaching a critical point in its political (and intimidation) power in the Legislature.  And their legislative agenda for this state is truly frightening.  We are seeing particular things brewing that we really don't like.  They are organizing in districts to target certain reps.  They are getting ready to step up the psychological tactics – having more homosexual "couples" and "gay youth" meet one-to-one with reps with well-rehearsed, emotional stories, followed by postcard and phone campaigns.

For example, do you want to see a "trans-sexual anti-discrimination" law that would make it a crime not to allow a man in women's clothes to teach elementary school?  That's being pushed around the country.  They're fighting it now in Maine.

However, we've proven in the past that when ordinary citizens are mobilized, they can successfully beat even a well-organized campaign by the homosexual lobby.  We did it in 1995, with the Parental Notification Law.  And we did it in recent elections, with Rep. Joyce Spiliotis and Rep. Shirley Gomes, who both faced the well-funded and nationally-financed homosexual movement, and won.

We've been seriously strategizing over the summer.  And we're getting ready to roll!  We will be holding a state wide organizing meeting soon.  Watch these emails for more information.  We will be hopefully working with just about all of you (even those out of state).

One thing we've immediately noticed is that over two-thirds of our people are NOT on our email list, and depend on regular mail.  So we need to mail out to them, and to other lists of like-minded people in Massachusetts we've accumulated.  This is absolutely crucial.  In all, we need to do this mailing – soon – to about fifty thousand people.

But in order to do this, we need to raise about $35,000 right away.  And that's just the beginning.  To do regular mailings, and to run this effectively, covering every legislator and district with various degrees of difficulty, it will cost at least $400,000.  But his will pay off huge dividends.

What can you do right now?

1. Please donate!  We need to raise serious seed money for this right now.   Please click here and donate!  (Better yet, call our office and become a monthly donor!)

2. Help us call other Article 8 supporters (there are thousands) who could donate, or help in other ways.  We will be having phone banks in our Waltham office Monday-Thursday evenings. Also, you can call from home, or get together in groups at someone's house or business.  This is incredibly important.  Call us at 781-899-4905 or email us back.

Unfortunately, we're going to be haranguing you, because nothing is free, especially this.  We honestly believe that if we may never have the chance to stop this if we don't confront it now.  Join the Mass Resistance!!

===  3.  Constitutional Convention postponed until Sept. 14.  Gay lobby pushing hard to defeat Travaglini-Lees amendment (and it SHOULD be defeated)!  ===

As we predicted in our last email, last Wednesday’s Constitutional Convention lasted about a minute.  It was postponed until Sept. 14.  Senate President Robert Travaglini has apparently promised that the dreaded “Travaglini-Lees amendment” compromise from last year (which both disallows same-sex “marriage” and creates its exact equivalent in the same paragraph) would be voted on.

The pro-gay Speaker of the House claims it doesn’t have much of a chance (see Boston Globe article.)  But the homosexual lobby is having a conniption because they claim they don’t have enough time to do the necessary arm-twisting and intimidation to really get it killed.

Of course, the gays hate it for obvious reasons.  And we’ve been against it from the start because (1) it represents an absurd compromise, and (b) the constitution doesn’t need amending—the problem is the judges.

But certain other powerful “pro-family” groups have been doing some mind-bending flip-flopping between wholeheartedly supporting it (because it rescues the word “marriage, if nothing else) and being against it (because civil unions “discriminate”).  As the Globe article says, these groups aren't sure whether they’ll end up supporting it or not.  We’ll keep you informed.  We know where we stand.

===  4.  Deadline is Sept. 7 for Mass. Attorney General to rule on allowing new constitutional amendment on ballot.  Legal arguments to disallow it appear strong.  ===

We know where we stand on this one, too.  A constitutional amendment that allows all current homosexual “marriages” to continue, and does not restrict the Legislature from creating marriage-equivalent domestic partnerships or civil unions is unacceptable.  It’s an extreme compromise, to say the least. (Some analysis of it here.)

Anyway, Attorney General Thomas Reilly has until Wednesday, Sept. 7, to decide whether it passes legal muster to proceed as a ballot question.  The homosexuals are, of course, pushing hard on this, and they’ve raised two interesting points:

(1) Excluded matter. In Part 2, Section 2 of the Constitution, it lists the “excluded matters” pertaining to initiative petitions.  Among them are “the reversal of a judicial decision.”  This amendment appears pretty clearly to be intended to reverse the SJC’s judicial decision in the Goodridge case.

(2) Similar to one recently qualified. In Section 3, it requires “that the measure is not, either affirmatively or negatively, substantially the same as any measure which has been qualified for submission or submitted to the people at either of the two preceding biennial state elections.”  This is a little trickier.  You will recall that in 2002, an initiative petition was qualified for submission by the Attorney General, but Senate President Thomas Birmingham blocked it from getting a proper vote in order to proceed.  So technically the new one would appear to be disqualified for that reason, though Reilly certainly has more wiggle room here.

Anyway, none of this is to say that Reilly will make a decision on the basis of actual legal judgment, rather than pure politics.  For example: you’ll remember that last month the “Catholic Vote” organization proposed an initiative petition to repeal the recently passed stem cell law.  Reilly stated that law dealt with “religious” issues, and could not constitutionally be repealed by initiative petition.  In fact, the law did nothing of the sort.  It exempted religious organizations from its effects, but that was purely incidental.  Even the opponents conceded that Reilly had no legal basis for that decision; he just didn’t want the heat from it in an election year.

We’ll find out soon. . .

===  5.  A few highlights from this summer’s Gay Pride parade.  ===

Yeah, a ton of politicians paid $150 for the “honor” of marching with some of their more depraved constituents.  And there were the usual men in dresses, lesbians doing weird stuff, etc.  That’s all boring by now.  So here are some other pictures this time.  Only the one at the very bottom is disgusting (and we warn you before you get there).  Click here.
