Subject: Arrest of Constitution Party Petitioner
On Sunday our main Constitution Party of West Virginia petitioner
was arrested while petitioning for ballot access for our candidates.
Jeff Becker was charged with tresspass and some other offense
related to not answering the police officers questions.
THESE CHARGES ARE TOTAL AND COMPLETE LIES.
The arrested was made by a Westover police officer at an Arts and
Crafts Festival at Westover. Westover is a municipality in West
Virginia that borders Morgantown. Jeff told me that he was getting a
lot of signatures that day until the police arrived. He has been
released on a $700 bond. I'll let Jeff tell you all the details that
he told me and Pastor Butch Paugh on the Call to Decision Radio
Program.
As you know Jeff has been a paid petitioner for Butch Paugh's
campaign and is able to get large quanties of signatures(he can get
over 200 per day consistently if the people are there). We have been
relying on him to get most of the signatures and this event has
temporarily halted our petitioning(at least the large majority of
it) and threatens our ballot access petitioning drive.
There will be a hearing at Westover on Dec. 19th at 3:30pm. I
encourage all of you to be there if you can and support Jeff. I am
confident that the charges will be dropped because they are so
outragiously false.
Somehow we need to see that this cop is fired and sued in federal
court for civil rights violations.
Sincerely,
Denzil W. Sloan, Chairman
Constitution Party of West Virginia
